Job summary/Role description

Located in LUKOIL Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez refinery in Kstovo, Russia, the project concerns the EPC for the utilities, infrastructures and off-sites facilities of a greenfield plant for a new:

  • Gas Fractionation Unit (GFU)
  • Sulphur Recovery Unit (SRU)
  • Hydrotreater Unit (HDT)
  • Hydrogen Unit (HPU/ROG PSA)

Welding Engineer (NWE) ensures the timely issue and finalization (approval by all involved parties) of Welding and Non-Destructive Examination documentation by Construction Subcontractor, following the Project specification and other applicable requirements, and supports the Site Team to solve findings related to welding activities.



Duties and responsibilities

  • Coordinates and carries out the review of welding documentation prepared by Construction Subcontractor before submission to other parties involved in the final approval;
  • Coordinates the welding documentation approval process;
  • Coordinates and carries out the review of Non-Destructive Examination Procedures prepared by Construction Subcontractor before submission to other parties involved in the final approval and coordinates the approval process;
  • Interface with the Client and with Third Parties (e.g. Certification Body, Local Authorities, Client, Construction Subcontractor, Vendor), as a representative of the Site Quality Manager, for all topics regarding Welding and Non-Destructive Examination.




Person Specification

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • University Degree or Diploma in relevant discipline or equivalent;
  • Certified International Welding Engineer;
  • Certified Level II - UT, RX;
  • Well proven knowledge of GOST and ASME Standard for Welding and NDE


  • Significant experience in providing welding solutions across the industry sectors; 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in oil & gas /industrial sector/ EPC projects;
  • At least 3 years of experience in the specific discipline;
  • Expertise in Welding Engineering, Materials and Corrosion;
  • Similar role covered in last three projects, of comparable size;
  • Experience working on the Contractor side;
  • Previous work experience in Russia would be advantageous

  • Fluent English;
  • Knowledge of Russian Language is mandatory;
  • Excellent IT and analytical skills;
  • Excellent communications, team-oriented and interpersonal skills;
  • Attention to details;
  • Self-motivation and direction, with strong bias toward timely performance and problem resolution.
